My name is Gloria Furr. I am seeking election to the Tyrone Council, Post #4 and am asking for your vote on Nov. 8, 2005. I have lived in Tyrone all my life. I have been married to Gordon Furr for 38 years. Our daughter, Tracy, is a fourth grade teacher at Tyrone Elementary School. She and her husband, Terry Heard, have a daughter, Aubrey. I am retired and a part-time caregiver to my mother, Rabie Adams, who has lived and raised a family in Tyrone for the past 78 years Our town is beginning to lose the lovely, rural character it has today. The quiet country lifestyle so many of us have enjoyed is quickly being eroded away. I want to protect what is left of our quaint town and country environment. As a Tyrone Council member I will enforce adherence to the land use plan. With the recent vote by our mayor and council to allow half-acre lots on a piece of property that was, less than a year earlier, changed to a minimum of one-acre lots, it became apparent to me that the people of Tyrone need representation. I will seek input from citizens on issues such as erosion control, long-term planning and infrastructure issues, such as potential conversion to sewer, to ensure only quality growth takes place in Tyrone. During the past year, I have seen and heard of numerous examples of erosion and flooding and the surrounding lakes and properties being mired in silt and mud. This practice is unacceptable and must be addressed. I am the person who has the time and the desire to do the homework to assure that erosion is stopped. In regard to the development of Tyrone, I will expect changes to be planned with citizen input at all phases. This step has been overlooked in the past. I will be looking for planned, fiscally responsible development that is in harmony with the desires of the people. As those who know me will attest, I am vitally interested in Tyrone and have consistently attended and spoken at both Tyrone’s Council and Planning and Zoning meetings. Again, I have the interest and time to properly prepare for issues as they occur. I ask for your support and vote for Gloria Furr, Post #4 on Nov. 8, 2005. login to post comments |
