Christmas with the Southern Crescent Chorale will take place Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 161 Flat Creek Trail, in Fayetteville.

Many patrons consider the annual concert Christmas with the Southern Crescent Chorale to be the official beginning of the holiday season. This year’s concert will be no exception. Accompanied by the 60 piece Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra, the Southern Crescent Chorale will thrill the audience with the resonant sounds of the season.

A highlight of the concert will be the performance of “The Many Mood’s of Christmas.” These musical suites include thirteen Christmas standards which feature the beauty of both the chorus and orchestra in a brilliantly arranged setting by Robert Shaw. Some of the favorites you’ll hear are “Silent Night,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World,” “Away in a Manger,” “Fum Fum Fum,” “What Child is This?,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

In addition, the Chorale will perform a number of a cappella Christmas pieces which will spotlight the subtle musical nuances for which the Chorale has become known. There will also be performances of lighter favorites such as “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” The concert finale will be “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors (60 and over). Purchase tickets from any Chorale member, at a card shop, By Invitation Only, on the square in Fayetteville, or at www.southerncrescentchorale.org.
