John Arlin Chitwood, 78, Fayetteville, died Nov. 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Chitwood.

Services were at Line Creek Baptist Church, Newnan, with the Rev. Ed Lynch, the Rev. Gaines Wise, and the Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating. Interment was at Wildwood Baptist Church Cemetery, Griffin.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruby Chitwood, Fayetteville; mother, Omer Chitwood, Summerville, Ga.; sons, Mike and Lucretia Chitwood, Sharpsburg, Steve and Karen Chitwood, Locust Grove, and Ken and Leslie Chitwood, Newnan; a daughter, Elaine and Paul Frevele, Winder; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Royce and Linda Chitwood; and sisters, Leona and Bernard Shaw, Jewell and Bob Dooley, Marie Gossett, and Velma Allen.

Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
