PTC officers go above and beyond

I am visiting my mother from out of town because on Oct. 27, 2008, my father passed away after a very short stay at the hospital. It was completely unexpected, leaving my mother here in Peachtree City alone for the first time in 51 years.

On Friday the 7th, my mom and I went to a friend’s house for dinner, returning home at about 10 p.m. that evening. We went into the house and turned off the alarm and immediately noticed that the display said “movement in basement.” We went outside and called 911.

When Officer Pearson arrived, he told us he had also responded to a call earlier in the evening. Our alarm had gone off then as well, and he had checked the outside of the house and it seemed secure.

Soon there were three officers here. They went into the house and checked everything and again checked the outside, and they did not find evidence of anything wrong.

My mother and I were very shaken up over this, and Officer Pearson was extremely kind. He offered to take us through the house so that we would feel more comfortable, and he offered to drive by frequently through the night.

It was very reassuring for my mom during this very difficult time for us to have someone as kind as Officer Pearson. He was just doing his job responding to the call, but he went above and beyond to make us comfortable and safe after this incident.

I am not able to stay here with my mom. I will have to return home, but I do feel reassured that my mom will be safe here after meeting Officer Pearson and the other responding officers.

Thank you, Officer Pearson and your fellow officers.
