Mr. and Mrs. Steve Phillips of Luthersville, formerly of Fayetteville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Dean Phillips, to James Thomas Weems, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Weems of Pine Mountain.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Phillips of Hubbard, Texas and of the late Betty and Maurice Crawford of Fayetteville. She is a 2000 graduate of Fayette County High School and a 2004 and 2007 graduate of LaGrange College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and her master’s of education degree in curriculum and instruction. She currently is employed by the Troup County School System as a second grade teacher.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Elizabeth and Troy Weems of Pine Mountain and the late Virginia Harrison Bird of LaGrange. He is a 1998 graduate of Troup County High School and currently is self-employed.

The wedding be June 14, 2009, at 6 p.m., at Dunaway Gardens in Newnan. After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in LaGrange.
