Peachtree City will hold its third annual Hometown Holiday Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at Shakerag Knoll at 5 pm and ending at City Hall with the grand Christmas tree lighting, local entertainment, and a visit with Santa Claus.

Activities includes the traditional golf cart parade along the shores of Lake Peachtree where participants will have the opportunity to drive through candle lit paths and view the gaily decorated homes of residents along the lake. At 5 pm, golf carts will be lined up in the upper parking tier of the McIntosh Complex on McIntosh Trail where children will be treated to a Candy Cane Hunt before the golf cart parade begins. Children, from 2 to 12, will be divided by age groups to hunt for candy canes on Shakerag Knoll. There will also be some “prize canes” that can be redeemed for prizes at the tree lighting ceremony.

Santa Claus will lead the parade which is planned to leave the parking lot at 6 pm and travel to City Hall. At City Hall, the fun continues as the crowd will be entertained by vocalist Lindee Link, the Huddleston Elementary School Chorus and the Huddleston Hounds Bell Ringers. After Mayor Logsdon lights the grand tree, stay and be entertained by the Peachtree City Wind Ensemble while the children visit with Santa.

“The golf cart parade has grown in participants each year,” remarked event coordinator Ashley Alonso. “We look forward to seeing how creative our residents can be with their traveling holiday decorations. Many people have observed that the paths have never been prettier than during this event with the candles lining the way,” Alonso said.

“And the parade is just the beginning – great local entertainment will be provided guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit,” noted Alonso. For your comfort, we urge you to bring a chair for the musical program.

Registration for the parade is not needed. For more information on this event, call the Peachtree City Parks & Recreation Department at 770-631-2542.
