Clifford Harold Hancock, 89, Fayetteville, died Jan. 23, 2006. He was born Sept. 16, 1916 in Huntington, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Florence Hancock, and a brother, Buford Hancock. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager in the early 1930s, clearing land and planting trees in California, Idaho, and Washington. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 659th Medical Clearing Company of the 3rd United States Army. The battles and campaign he participated in include Normandy, Northern France, The Ardennes, The Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged in November, 1945. He was employed by International Nickel Company in Huntington until retirement in 1976. He served as Chairman of Ushers for 17 years at the Barboursville Baptist Church, W.Va. A memorial service was held at Fayette Bible Church. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Hancock; sons, Carl Young, Williamsport, Pa., and Bob Young, Fayetteville; daughters, Sandra Harmon, Chino Hills, Calif., and Lindalee Pincus, Cashiers, N. C.; a sister, Edna Moreland, Wildwood, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Grace Christian Academy, Fayetteville.
