The Sons of Lafayette Male Choir will give two performances of their Christmas concert at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange: Friday, Dec. 5th, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Organized in January 2001 by the conductor, Loren Pinkerman, the Sons of Lafayette Choir now numbers 48 male singers from West Georgia and East Alabama. In the spring of 2008 the Auburn University Men’s Chorus performed with the Sons of Lafayette at Callaway Auditorium in LaGrange. On Tuesday evening, Dec. 2, the Sons of Lafayette will perform at Auburn’s First Presbyterian Church, and will be joined by the Auburn University Men’s Chorus.

The choir has also hosted and performed with the Loose Change Quartet from Birmingham, Ala., the Piedmont Men’s Chorus from Greenville, SC, and the Portadown Male Choir from Craigavon, Northern Ireland. In 2010 the Sons of Lafayette will travel to Northern Ireland where the Portadown Male Choir will host them for several concerts.

Selections at the Christmas concerts will include “Mary Had a Baby,” “Mary’s Little Boy Child,“ “Still, Still, Still,” “Masters in this Hall,” “African Noel,” “A Garland of Carols,” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” A smaller ensemble, The Harmonizers, will perform several a cappella selections including Victoria’s “Ave Maria,” and “Have You Heard?” Featured soloists on the concerts will be LeGree McCamey, Randy Ogle, Ed Biggs, Jeff Sargent, and Loren Pinkerman.

Tickets are $10 and are available at The Hill Street House and from members of the choir. Because of limited seating, buying tickets early is recommended.
