A Chase Drive woman arrived at her Fayetteville home Tuesday to find that personally identifying items had been stolen. A neighbor reported seeing a van and a woman similar in description to one that had visited the home a few days earlier to pick up a furniture donation.

The resident had arranged for a company to come to her home Nov. 13 to pick up several items of furniture she wanted to donate, said Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw.

And on Nov. 17, the woman arrived home to find that a printer, clothes, shoes and paperwork such as tax returns and a passport with identifying information including her social security number had been stolen, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said a neighbor reported having seen a heavy-set black female carrying a duffel bag in a green van arriving at the home earlier in the day. The neighbor said the woman was inside the residence for 10-20 minutes, said Crawshaw. One of the people that picked up the donated furniture on Nov. 13 was of a similar description, as was the vehicle, said Crawshaw.

Police are investigating to see if there is any connection with the burglary and the company to which the donations were made. The name of the company has not been released.
