A woman getting a massage at Honey Hair, Skin and Body Nov. 14 contacted Fayetteville Police later that day, alleging that she had been sexually assaulted.

In a related issue, a relative of the woman was charged with battery after a subsequent altercation at the salon on Ga. Highway 314.

Few details on the report of sexual assault are currently available since the investigation is ongoing, said Fayetteville Police spokesman Glen Askew.

Askew did confirm that the incident occurred around noon, when a male giving the massage was alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman. The woman had fallen asleep and awakened to find the man assaulting her, reports said.

Thirty-year-old Jonesboro resident Freddie Massey, a relative of the assaulted women, was charged later in the afternoon with battery in an incident related to alleged sexual assault, Askew said.

The female victim went to police to report the incident after leaving the salon, said Askew. Massey went to the store at approximately 1 p.m. and got into a physical altercation with the man that allegedly victimized the woman, said Askew. Massey then went to the police department to check on his relative.

Massey and the victim left the station, Askew said, but Massey was contacted later after police became aware of the incident between the two men at the salon. Massey returned to the police department later that day to turn himself in, said Askew.
