‘Tis the season to be gifting for seniorsTue, 11/18/2008 - 11:55am

It’s the most wonderful time of the year ... for many reasons. Fayette Senior Services is hosting a Lunch & Learn to teach participants why this time of the year is the best time to make financial gifts, which can benefit family members or your favorite charity. This highly informative session will be presented by Mary Lynn Kirby of the Fayette Law Group, who will explain how gifts to charity, if structured properly, can not only benefit the charity but can also be a very smart move for you. If you are age 60 or better and tired of watching your interest rates and stock values plummet, a gift annuity may be right for you. You can actually earn income for life, an immediate charitable deduction for your income tax return, and have the joy of knowing that you have given to your favorite charity. This is one time that the older you are, the better, because your interest rate gets better as you age. Wine, women, cheese and giving are all things that improve with age. This Lunch ’n Learn may not be for everyone, but if you are charitably inclined or want to maximize your gifting to your family, then make plans to join Mary Lynn Kirby for an important chat over lunch at Fayette Senior Services on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost of the session is $7 and includes a delicious boxed lunch prepared by Chef Todd Rossi. Registration and fees must be paid in advance at Fayette Senior Services, 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville. For more information, call 770-461-0813 or visit www.fayss.org.
