Peachtree City finance officials are projecting a $1 million revenue shortfall this year, it was announced Thursday night at the Peachtree City Council meeting.

Finance Director Paul Salvatore said department heads have been asked to cut their budgets by another 5 percent to cover the shortfall.

“We’ll be monitoring that through the year,” Salvatore said.

City Manager Bernie McMullen said the budget shortfall will likely be a topic at an upcoming Council workshop meeting.

City governments across the state are feeling the pinch as reduced spending has led to lower sales tax collections, and nationwide financial analysts are predicting depressed spending for the upcoming holiday season.
