Coweta commissioners Tuesday night reviewed and approved the Remaining Capacity Report for the Ishman Ballard Road C&D (Construction & Demolition) Landfill. The facility has an estimated lifetime that extends to 2025.

County Administrator Theron Gay noted the landfill, operating 312 days per year, receives approximately 16 tons of debris per day, or nearly 5,000 tons per year. Those totals equate to 40 cubic yards per day or 12,500 cubic yards per year.

Gay told board members the amount of waste received over the past 12 months has declined due to a reduction in building activity within the county.

The landfill opened in March 1999. Approximately 25 percent of the allowable volume is used by a soil cover. Beyond that figure, the landfill has a remaining capacity of 296,685 cubic yards with a lifetime expected to end in June 2025.
