Philip Roy Mewbourne, 56, Peachtree City, died Oct. 28, 2008. He was born Jan. 20, 1952 in Columbus, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Brown "Bodie" Mewbourne, and a sister, Jacquelyn Rose. He lived most of his life in Clayton County, was graduated from Forest Park High School, and attended Clayton Junior College. He worked for the Clayton County Water Authority for 33 years. After retiring he went on a mission field trip to Costa Rica, and Tanzania. He befriended a pastor in Tanzania, Mike Akyoo. He also enjoyed fishing and camping trips. Services were at Grace Evangelical Church, Fayetteville with Mark Conklin presiding. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia I. Mewbourne, Peachtree City; a son Mike Mewbourne, Atlanta; daughters, Jessica White, Loganville, and Monica Mewbourne, San Antonio; a granddaughter, Kyla White; his mother, Tommie Mewbourne; a brother, Keith Mewbourne, Cartersville; and a sister, Kay Brookshire, Atlanta. Memorial donations may be made to World Discipline Association, 110 Carnegie Place, Ste. 100, Fayetteville, GA 30214. On the check put Mike Akyoo.
