Coweta election results- 29 of 30 precincts reportingWed, 11/05/2008 - 10:30am

Coweta County’s election results show 29 of 30 precincts tallied. Coweta has 80,273 registered voters, with 66.88 percent casting a ballot. Incumbent Dist. 1 Commissioner Paul Poole kept his seat while the Dist. 5 race is still close with Al Smith leading 52.29 percent to 47.66 percent for Rob Brass. In the race for District 1 Commissioner incumbent Paul Poole has 72.76 percent, with challenger Bill Wood at 27.16 percent with 9 of 10 precincts reporting. The District 5 commission race shows Republican Rob Brass with 47.66 percent and Democrat Al Smith at 52.29 percent with 12 of 13 precincts reporting. Smith leads in the tally by 403 votes. The race for state 71st District Representative has incumbent Billy Horne with 77.01 percent and Democratic challenger Jason Smith at 22.91 percent. In the 28th District race for state Senate, incumbent Mitch Seabaugh has received 71.33 percent compared to 28.58 percent for challenger Betty Aaron. Incumbent Lynn Westmoreland has received 70.84 percent of the vote while challenger Stephen Camp has 29.08 percent. In the race for U.S. Senate, incumbent Saxby Chambliss has 66.12 percent with challenger Jim Martin garnering 29.77 percent. In the presidential race, John McCain leads Barak Obama 70.06 percent to 28.92 percent. In the special election for Fire District Tax Bond, 75.58 percent of voters are in favor while 24.42 percent are opposed. And in the special election on Sunday alcohol sales in Newnan, the initiative is succeeding 68.01 percent to 31.99 percent. login to post comments |
