New Hwy. 74 median dangerous

I am a regular at the Waffle House on Ga. Highway 74 in Peachtree City. I am also a regular at the U.S. Post Office next door.

Because of the widening project on Hwy. 74, a median has been poured in front of the Post Office turn and the Waffle House turn so that northbound traffic has to go all the way to Ga. Highway 54 to turn around.

A U-turn here is very dangerous. I heard that someone has already been killed at this intersection trying to do a U-turn here.

If you don’t try a U-turn, you have to go left and find your way through The Avenue in order to go to the post office or Waffle House.

My question is this: If this widening of Hwy. 74 is necessary, why make all of the northbound traffic go all the way to Hwy. 54 in order to make your way into a number of businesses on Hwy. 74?

This is going to put undue pressure on the 74/54 intersection and cause more through traffic through The Avenue.

I have not talked to anyone that thinks that taking away the ability to make left-hand turns into the Post Office or Waffle House makes any sense at all. I would like for someone with the D.O.T. to address this very dangerous situation.
