The Salvation Army's services in the state of Georgia include a shelter for Gulf Coast evacuees in Macon, Ga.; mobile feeding units from 10 Georgia cities including Atlanta, Savannah, Macon and Columbus that have been deployed to the Gulf Coast to serve victims and relief workers; and feeding services at Red Cross shelters in Atlanta. Additionally, the Carroll County mobile feeding unit was deployed to the Alabama/Georgia state line rest stop, and as of this morning 845 meals have been served there to the evacuees entering the state.
All of our Salvation Army churches throughout the state of Georgia will be devoting special time to praying for the victims of Hurricane Katrina Sunday morning, said Major Ken Johnson, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army in Georgia. We invite the public to join us for a special time of prayer for the victims of this tragedy and for those who are serving them. Our services begin at 11 a.m.
