Vendor spots available for Spring Yard and Garden ShowTue, 01/31/2006 - 3:17pm

Business owners specializing in yard and garden products or services can showcase their items at the first ever Spring Yard and Garden Show, Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shakerag Knoll on McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. Peachtree City Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the new event as a “spin off” from their Annual Shakerag Fall Arts and Crafts Festival, but this show will feature vendors with all the products and services homeowners need to begin their spring yard and garden season. Some local vendors are making plans for the show now in anticipation of beautiful spring weather right around the corner. Wild Birds Unlimited owner Audrey Harrelson will be featuring bird feeders, birdhouses, wind chimes, and more at the show. “I think it should be a great kick-off to spring,” she said. Shane LeBlanc, the owner of Selective Designs Landscaping, is excited about this event because he believes that “if I support the community the community will support my business.” Selective Designs features unique outdoor kitchens and commercial and residential landscaping. Natures Landscape Service owner Philip Jackson is also eager to join the event because “although we have been around since 1977, I think it’s a great opportunity for the Peachtree City community to learn more about our products and services.” Some of those include landscape design, landscape installation, Irrigation, and seasonal maintenance. This event took shape after a Shakerag Festival was forced to cancel due to bad weather. Because this event was rescheduled in the spring, it attracted different kinds of vendors and the idea of a yard and garden show was born. “This event will be the first of its kind in the Fayette County area, so we are looking forward to making this an annual event,” said event coordinator Makeda Johnson. A vendor application, waiver, and the rules and regulations for this event are available at www.peachtree-city.org/recreation under Spring Yard and Garden Show forms or you may visit the Recreation Administration Office at 191 McIntosh Trail.
