Patriots top Panthers 24-7Fri, 10/24/2008 - 9:24pm

Sandy Creek has one more game before the region playoffs start and they remain unbeaten and ranked third in Class AAAA. Tonight, the Patriots raced out to a 21-0 halftime lead. The scoring began with 17 seconds remaining in the first quarter when Rajion Neal ran 52 yards for a touchdown. Neal finished with 120 yards to lead the team. Early in the second quarter, Rio Johnson connected with Jarrett Davis with an 80 yard touchdown play. Alex Green capped the scoring in the first half with a two yard touchdown run. The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Miles Jaye threw a 46 yard touchdown pass to Lontrell Anderson. Anderson had four catches for 57 yards. Sandy Creek's Zach Lopez kicked a 37 yard field goal in the fourth quarter to finish the scoring. The Patriot defense held Starr's Mill to 101 total yards, while the Patriot offense piled up 375 yards (230 on the ground and 145 in the air). James Hervey led the Sandy Creek defense with seven total tackles and five tackles for a loss. Matt Solomon chipped in six total tackles, Lacy Coleman and Brandon Putnam each had five and a tackle for a loss and Isaiah Johnson added an interception. Sandy Creek will host Northgate next Friday, while Starr's Mill will host Fayette County. login to post comments |
