• Fomer Sandy Creek head football coach Rodney Walker has accepted the position of head football coach at Mary Persons High School. • Chad Thames, who wrestles in the 103 weight class for Landmark Christian School, is 20-2 heading into the Bowdon Tournament. • The War Eagle varsity basketball teams recently honored their senior players. Seniors Andrea Fergus, Zech Glaize, Stoney Hill, Kenneth Johnson, Kelsey Knapp, and Brandon Orum were recognized for their leadership and contribution to the Landmark basketball program. • In the final home meet of the Landmark varsity swim team, Stephen Calsbeek shattered the school record for the 50 yard freestyle. The old record held by Glenn Weaver was 25.17. Stephen’s new record time is 24.51. The Landmark girls won the meet against ELCA and South Forsyth. • In one of the most limited ticket specials offered by Atlanta Motor Speedway, 325 lucky fans have a chance to call a lap their own in the March 19 Golden Corral 500. Lap sponsors will receive a commemorative certificate of their lap, as well as two tickets to March 17 Georgia Power qualifying night followed by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 200, and the Nicorette 300 Busch Series race on March 18. Lap sponsors also receive two coveted pre-race pit passes, allowing race fans ages 14 and over access to the sights and sounds of race morning.
