Candidate forum Oct. 30

Local residents are being invited to a candidate forum Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Freeman/Sasser Building in Senoia’s Seavy Street Park.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is being hosted by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce.

All candidates in the upcoming Nov. 4 election have been invited to attend.

Among those candidates are Coweta County Commissioner Paul Poole and his challenger for the District 1 seat, former Senoia councilman Bill Wood.

Residents will also be deciding other contested races including incumbent Rep. Billy Horne who is being challenged for his 71st district seat in the Georgia House of Representatives by Democrat Jason G. Smith.

State Sen. Mitch Seabaugh is facing a challenge from Democrat Betty Aaron.

All of the other local offices on the ballot represent unopposed incumbent who did not have a Democratic candidate qualify to challenge them in the general election.

City hosting budget confab

The Senoia City Council is having a budget workshop today at 11 a.m. at the Am-Rock Building at Merrimac Lakes Park.

The workshop will help shape the framework for the budget of the coming fiscal year.
