Whitewater softball moves on to Elite 8

Whitewater’s varsity softball team, still ranked first in AAAA in the GaSports.com/GACA Coaches poll, went 3-0 to start the state tournament and make the Elite Eight.

The Lady Wildcats opened with an 8-0 win over SW DeKalb in five innings, followed it with a 5-1 win over Apalachee in eight innings and topped Marist in the final game 3-2.

Whitney Toler won all three games for Whitewater, giving up a total of 10 hits, striking out 30 and walking four.

Ashley Schwab and Mackenzie Mobley both drove in four runs over the weekend, while Kaitlyn Johnson was 4-for-9 from the plate with three RBIs. Jamie Saunders was 3-for-9, scored four runs and drove in one.

Sandy Creek also made the Elite Eight - details of their weekend will be in soon.

Both Sandy Creek and Whitewater will find out their opponents in the Elite Eight after several games are played this evening.
