Offshoot Productions’ original audience-participation mystery, Rehearsal for Murder, is one in growing list of brand-new scripts and company-developed shows for this professional Southside company.  Slated for two venues in November, Rehearsal for Murder revolves around three theatre artists, one of whom meets a premature death in a malfunctioning freight elevator.  The audience takes on roles of detectives and elevator repairmen, and also has the opportunity to grill the characters and determine the guilty party.

Tyrone's Boxcar Cafe, 865 Senoia Road, will host the show on Saturday, November 8, in a dinner theatre event. Offshoot’s previous performances at the popular Tyrone eatery have played to full houses.  On the following Saturday, November 15, the play will be performed at It’s A Grind coffee house, 1240 Hwy 54 West, Suite 600, in Fayetteville, across from Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

The cast includes Josh Caray as Toby, a self-proclaimed ladies man and eager actor; Paige Steadman as Anne, a reserved young woman who attempting to launch an acting career; and Jane Bass as the flamboyant and unhinged director, Dr. Marcy Masters.  The director, Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., serves as artistic director to Fayette County based Offshoot Productions.

“The script undergoes changes as we rehearse,” said Steadman.  “Clarifications become necessary.  Improvisation leads to an understanding of each character’s idiosyncrasies.  Even the structure receives a bit of tinkering.  It’s always an adventure!”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the dinner theatre performance at Tyrone's Boxcar Café.  The cost, a modest $29 per person, includes meal and beverage. Call (770) 486-8931 to charge tickets, or drop by the restaurant in person.  Tickets may also be purchased online at www.offshoot.org.

Tickets for the murder mystery at It’s a Grind coffee house are $10 each, and beverages and desserts will be available for purchase.  Tickets may be picked up in person at the coffee house, or reserved through Offshoot Productions:  (770) 631-2362 or offshootpr@aol.com.  Reserved tickets must be paid for by 7:45 p.m. on the evening of the performance.

Tickets to either performance may also be ordered by mail.  Send checks to Offshoot Productions, P.O. Box 2462, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
