One of Peachtree City’s older industrial facilities is getting a makeover and a unique new tenant.

Home Plate, a baseball instruction facility, will occupy about 10,000 square feet in the former TDK warehouse. The renovation work, done by Tiernan and Patrylo, will include indoor batting cages and pitching “pods” along with a full-size tournament field outdoors situated next to smaller fields.

The outdoor fields will be made out of synthetic turf instead of grass.

The facility is located off Ga. Highway 74 south near Crosstown Drive.

City Planner David Rast said Home Plate is a “perfect fit” for the site because it has high ceilings and long distances that mesh well with the indoor uses Home Plate needs.

There will be a walkway leading from the building to the field to provide safe access for children who will be walking to the fields, Rast noted.

Home Plate is currently located in a facility also in the industrial park off Dividend and Kelly Drive.
