Local resident and up-and-coming young actor Tyler Case will be appearing on a TV near you this weekend in his most recent acting role. He will appear in Lifetime Television’s original movie “Living Proof,” which will debut Saturday, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. “Living Proof” is the true story of oncologist and researcher Dr. Dennis Slamon (played by Harry Connick Jr.), the UCLA doctor who helped develop the breast cancer drug Herceptin, and his effort to keep the drug trials afloat. His inspiring story shows the sacrifices he makes in his personal life and the obstacles that he faces to get the drug approved. Slamon is credited with saving hundreds of thousands of lives with his work. This movie is based on Robert Bazell’s book “Her-2.” The cast also includes such notable names as Swoosie Kurtz, Bernadette Peters, Angie Harmon, Regina King and Amanda Bynes and it is executive produced by Renée Zellweger, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan as well as screenwriter Vivienne Radkoff. The film’s debut coincides with National Breast Cancer Awareness month, which takes place every October. While this is not a lead role for Case, he says, “This is a huge, huge role and I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful story and to recognize this man for his brilliant work.” Case, who will star in next year’s “Good Intentions” alongside Elaine Hendrix and Luke Perry, also points out that he owes much of his success to his mom, sisters and his agents Joy and Jayme Pervis. login to post comments |
