The Colorful Arts Society, Inc., a nonprofit arts organization supporting the metro-Atlanta area, will host its ninth annual Fundraiser Gala Concert and Scholarship Awards Program on Sunday, October 19. The event will be held at 4 p.m. in the Georgia International Convention Center. This year’s theme is the Harlem Renaissance.

The evening will begin with the silent auction reception from which proceeds will help to fund the organization’s scholarship program and year-round calendar of cultural events.

For the first time in the organization’s history, this year’s scholarship recipients will be chosen from among students of color from any accredited college, university or film/art school in the nation. Consideration for this year’s scholarship includes a short film, no longer than 10 minutes about the Harlem Renaissance.

Scheduled to perform during the fund-raiser is Atlanta-based African-American Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to advance the concept and practice of music to audiences everywhere. To learn more out more about the orchestra, go to www.renaissanceeventsinc.com.

Tickets to the event are $60 and may be purchased from any CAS member or online at www.colorfulartssociety.org.
