Velocity Sports Performance in Peachtree City hosted a special combine testing session for several current and former collegiate athletes on Tuesday. Georgia Tech wide receiver Demarius Bilbo, former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin, Middle Tennessee graduate and Areana Football League 2005 Rookie of the Year Troy Bergeron and former Tuskegee University and Florida State University player Yohance Buchanon all worked out for Tom Marino, a scout from the St. Louis Rams.

Velocity Sports Performance works with a number of pro and top rated collegiate athletes in their day to day operations and Marino is very familiar with Velocity Sports and the coaching staffs.

“He knows that our coaches are trained properly and can warm the guys up and test them correctly,” said Sales Director Mark Gibson.

The athletes participated in a number of drills and tests that are used in the NFL combines including vertical jump, standing broad jump, 10, 20 and 40 yard dash, the three cone drill and a pro agility drill, while also getting a chance to look at football moves.

In addition to using the staff at Velocity Sports Performance, Dart Fish Technology was also on hand to provide video analysis of the athletes working out for the scout. While the staff could immediately look over the testing, the athletes would also walk out with a CD of their workout for the scout.

Gibson stated that while the facility is used by pro and college athletes to train, they also work with middle school and high school athletes in a number of sports.

“We’re here to improve an athlete’s speed, power, agility and injury prevention and we test our athletes on their measurables on a regular basis” said Gibson. “If an athlete is on JV and wants to make varsity or is on varsity and is hoping to be recruited by a division one school over a division two or three, we can help them.”
