County objects to Peachtree City’s annexation effortsTue, 10/14/2008 - 3:27pm

The Fayette County Commission wants a little more information before it signs off on Peachtree City’s latest annexation request. Peachtree City filed the request on the behalf of Scarbrough and Rolader Development for a 33-acre site on Wilks Grove Church Road. The city plans to rezone the property to AR-Agricultural Reserve and add it to Wilksmoor Village, but did not submit any development plans for the property. Planing Director Pete Frisina said the request would eliminate an existing island on the western boundary of the city. Currently, the property in the county is zoned A-R, which limits development to one home on five acres. Frisina said staff would not object to the annexation, since it would help “clean up” the land use map. But Commissioner Eric Maxwell said not enough information was provided by the city for him to not object to the issue. “There is no development plan submitted, and this annexation is requested by a developer,” he said. Maxwell asked if the county’s staff could get a better idea from Peachtree City about the proposed use of the property and report back to the county. The other commissioners concurred with Maxwell’s sentiments and sent the issue back to Peachtree City. login to post comments |
