Patriots stay unbeaten, defeat Chiefs 34-7Fri, 10/10/2008 - 9:34pm
By: Michael Boylan
Sandy Creek came out fast against the McIntosh Chiefs, scoring 13 first quarter points with short touchdown runs from Derek Alexander and Alex Green. If their goal was to erase memories of last year’s loss at the hands of the Chiefs, mission accomplished. But McIntosh stayed close and made things interesting. The Chiefs got on the scoreboard halfway through the second quarter when quarterback Cam Porter connected on a 23 yard touchdown pass with Nathan Enzor. In the third quarter, McIntosh fumbled on an early possession and Sandy Creek capitalized going 53 yards on four plays and scoring one minute after the turnover when Ragion Neal ran three yards for a touchdown. Isaiah Johnson added two interceptions for the Patriots in the second half, while Mike Spaluding added another late. Alex Green had a one yard touchdown run late in the third quarter and Lucky Charleston ran 25 yards for a touchdown with just over four minutes to play in the game, sealing the win for Sandy Creek. Neal was the Patriots’ leading rusher with 82 yards on 13 carries, while Charleston added 60 yards. Sandy Creek rushed for a total of 212 yards on the night and passed for 109. Defensively, Sandy Creek held McIntosh to 136 total yards (31 yards rushing, 105 passing). James Hervey led the Patriot defense with eight tackles, two tackles for a loss and two sacks. Mike Spaulding had five total tackles and a tackle for a loss, while Jarreau Brown, Russell Bonner and Johnson each had four total tackles. Bonner and Johnson also each had one tackle for a loss. McIntosh’s defense was led by Andrew Graham’s 10 total tackles, while Trevor Marks, Taylor Peaden, Bradley Larson and Daiyaan Epps each had nine total tackles. Joe Trevena had two sacks and Peaden added one. login to post comments |
