14th Annual Pancake Saturday this weekend

The Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City will host their 14th Annual Pancake Saturday this weekend. This “All-You-Can-Eat” Pancake Saturday meal will be served in the McIntosh High School cafeteria on Walt Banks Road from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee, and tea. Tickets are $4 per person and can be purchased in advance from any Peachtree City Kiwanis member. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Take out orders are available for people on their way to work or just in a hurry. Increased seating is available since the school cafeteria was renovated and enlarged earlier this year. Plenty of free parking is also available.

Family entertainment will abound as kids can enjoy free face-painting, clowns from New Hope Baptist Church will entertain young children with their calliope, balloon art and antics, and strolling barbershop quartets will serenade the adults. Don’t miss the children’s pancake eating contest, a hands-free event, with a special award going to the winner.

“This is not just a breakfast, but the premier mid-winter social and family community event in Peachtree City,” said Dan Nelson of the Kiwanis Club. ”Friends and neighbors can come together to share a meal, enjoy each others company and have a great time.”

Local business owners are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets for their customers and loyal employees. Members representing other Kiwanis Clubs and other community service organizations in Fayette, Coweta, and other surrounding counties are also encouraged to attend. A special guest, Johnny Johnson, Governor of the Georgia District, Kiwanis International, will try his luck at flipping a few flapjacks.

Last year the club served thousands of pancakes to over 2,000 hungry citizens. The club’s goal for this year’s event is to feed 3,000 hungry customers. The tremendous success enjoyed in 2005 resulted in the club giving back over $8,000 to the community in support of charitable causes and service projects.

Pancake Saturday is planned and staffed by club members. Assistance is provided by over 60 members of the Key Clubs of McIntosh and Starr’s Mill High Schools along with other friends and family members.
