Howard Alfred Elliott, 77, Fayetteville, died Oct. 3, 2008. As a young man, he was a skilled diver. He gave up an chance as an Olympic athlete to enter military service. He was in the United States Army, Airborne Division, receiving several medals. Following his military service he worked for BellSouth retiring after a 43 year career. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Elliott, Fayetteville; a son, Thomas Howard Elliott Sr.; a daughter, Teresa Ann Elliott; daughter-in-law, Maureen Elliott; grandchildren, Thomas Howard and Robin Elliott Jr., Lisa Ann Elliott, U.S.C.G. Bradley Neal and Nohea Lloyd, Alyssa and David Thomas, and Jessica L. Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Austin, and Brendan; and a sister, Kathleen Brown. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
