Boy Scout Troop 75 participated in the annual High Adventure Program of BSA in the Bahamas in July. Flying from Ft Lauderdale, the troop then went by charter air to the Bahamas and spent the week sailing, swimming, snorkeling, sunning and surviving their own cooking. Thankfully the ship captain (the only paid sailor on board), Captain Bruce, had a stocked larder as the fishing for food was extremely successful. This High Adventure Program was over a year in the planning and scheming as all aboard had to man the ship, perfect their knot tying skills, keep an eye on the weather and uphold that Scouting tradition of the Buddy System to ensure the safety of all on the catamaran. Several stops along the way gave the land lubbers a chance to stretch their sea legs in places like Great Guana Cay. Conch fritters and sweet rolls were popular with the boys.
