tyrone planning- boundary discussion date setFri, 09/26/2008 - 2:44pm
By: Ben Nelms
The outcome of the brief meeting Thursday by Tyrone Planning Commission came with the board agreeing to set Oct. 9 as a time to begin a discussion of the boundaries of the three overlapping downtown development districts. Town Manager Chris Venice told commissioners an overlap exists in some portions of the Traditional Neighborhood District, Main Street District and Downtown Center Architectural District. “There’s a lot of overlap and we need to discuss each (of the districts) and see what they are trying to accomplish,” Venice said. Commenting after the meeting, Commissioner David Nebergall and Chairman Gordon Shenkle said each of the three districts were put in place at different times to accomplish different purposes. Those variables now need to be coordinated, they said. Commissioners will hold discussions at the Oct. 9 work session. The meeting will be held in the conference room at town hall. Also at the meeting, commissioners voted to approve the annual report on the town’s Comprehensive Plan Short Term Work Program and Capital Improvement Element that relates to impact fees for fire services, public safety, the library and recreation. Transmittal of the report is required by Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs and Atlanta Regional Commission. Venice said the submittal is essentially a financial report that addresses the money the town brought in last year and how the money was spent. We need a vote to forward the resolution to the council so we can send it on to the state, Venice said. login to post comments |
