The Fall Taste of Newnan, sponsored by Main Street Newnan, J-93, 92.5 The Bear and local Kroger stores, is October 2 on the courthouse square in historic Downtown Newnan from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event showcases local restaurants and caterers and gives visitors an opportunity to sample treats from Main Street Newnan vendors. The event is rain or shine and is free and open to the public.

This year Main Street Newnan will feature an expanded “Kidz Korner” on West Washington Street. The Korner will feature all kinds of children related activities including a special demonstration of birds of prey from the Winged Ambassadors, face painting, balloon creations, and a bounce house. Seating will be available for tired parents.

Live entertainment will feature Everthird on North Court sponsored by J-93 FM and Southern Pride sponsored by 92.5 The Bear FM.  Vendors will offer such items as homemade cakes, pies and breads, barbecue, fried Oreos, fish and chips, fajitas and hot wings. Restaurants will also offer a sample of their specialties.

In addition to the Taste of Newnan, there will be a Chili Cook-off where people can cast their votes for the area’s best chili. Participants will come out and bring on their best chili recipes in hopes of becoming Newnan’s favorite chili. Voting will be at the Main Street booth on South Court Square.

Wooden tokens will be sold for $1 at the event or can be pre-purchased at Newnan Community Bank (downtown location), Bank of Coweta (downtown location) Morgan’s Jewelers (downtown location) Globe Telecommunications, Sweet Sensations Bakery at Avery Park, and Newnan Hospital Health & Fitness Center.

“Taste of Newnan is Main Street Newnan’s most popular event. We are excited to continue to expand the Kidz Korner. The Winged Ambassadors are something that the whole family will enjoy. The Main Street merchants strive to provide a family atmosphere in downtown Newnan all year long and I salute them for continuing to volunteer their time and staff to support this community event. If you are new to town, this is a “don’t miss,” says Linda Kee, Business Development and Main Street Director.

Public parking lots are available on the corner of LaGrange Street and Spring Street, First Avenue and Spring Street, East Broad Street and Perry Street, as well as East Washington Street and Perry Street.
