Freeman "Free" Clemons, 84, Fayetteville, died Sept. 3, 2008. He was born March 27, 1924 in Fayette County, son of the late Freeman and Mamie Clemons. He was also preceded in death by sons, Freeman and Willie Turner. He loved people and storytelling. He was retired from Ryder's Truck Line where he worked for over 35 years, and had the nickname of "Red Cap." He loved to work on cars and would only buy or recommend a Ford. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Inman community. Services were at the New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Belinda McCastle officiating. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sarah Clemons, Fayetteville; daughters, Iona Arnold, Ervia and Marvin Cooper, Earlie Clemons, and Mary Frazier; grandchildren, Orlando Cooper, Joe and Sheanna Arnold, Margaret Clemons, and Kaylin Frazier; a great-grandson, Jamari; friend and private nurse, Denise; sisters, Margaret and James Ector, and Eva Mae Nixon; two brothers-in-law, and seven sisters-in-law. Harris Ward & Webb Ellison Funeral Home, Morrow, was in charge. login to post comments |
