Peachtree City’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the 31st annual Shakerag Arts and Crafts Festival next weekend, September 20 and 21, at Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City.

The popular festival opens to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The event, which is open to the public, is free and parking will be available on site at no cost.

As in years past, the festival will play host to vendors featuring handmade items for sale including jewelry, pottery, stained glass articles and more. Vendors will make their way to Peachtree City from all over the Southeast region, with many vendors coming from every corner of Georgia.

Leisure Program Coordinator Ashley Alonso says that “this year’s event will be bigger” than in the past. Those interested in vendor spaces may contact Alonso up until the day before the event. The only types of vendors they are no longer accepting are food, jewelry, crochet and handbags. The vendor applications are available at www.ptcrecreation.org or they are available at The Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Administration building.

The event will feature entertainment provided by a DJ each day as well as performances by the Fayette Fiddlers, cloggers, the McInosh High School Band, the South Broadway performers and more.

A kids zone will feature entertainment for the young ones on hand, including inflatables, kid crafts and the very popular “Wacky ’Do Lady,” said Alonso.

Under the shady pine trees next to the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater food vendors will serve a variety of tasty treats. The varied menu from food vendors include baked goods and meal options. Tables are available so plan to stay for mealtime.

The Shakerag Arts and Crafts Festival, which will take place rain or shine, is known for its handmade arts, crafts, food, music and fun for all, so don’t hesitate to take the entire family.

Shakerag always promises to offer a great opportunity to shop from talented and unique craftsmen. For more information call the parks and recreation department at 770-631-2542.
