Spying: Dangerous time to be American

After many “last straws” this year, I have finally found my voice. The Bush administration is again doing what it does best: deflecting public attention from the real issue by trumping up sideline distractions.
In this case, they plan a full-scale investigation into the matter of who leaked information to the New York Times regarding the unauthorized and illegal wiretaps; the plan seems to be to kill the messenger while ignoring what the messenger had to say.
The president is more concerned with how the information became public than with the fact that the information is correct (by his own admission) or that the spying, wiretapping, etc., is unlawful under the U.S. Constitution.
Under the guise of protecting the citizens of America, “Damn the constitution, full speed ahead,” to paraphrase John Paul Jones, seems to be the operation mode. Indeed, it is a dangerous time to be an American these days, especially if your views differ from those of the current administration or you value the truth over subterfuge and lies.
