Donna Baltron heads South of Broadway

Donna Baltron is new to Peachtree City and has joined Peachtree City School of Dance by adding to their curriculum authentic musical theatrical and drama classes. Baltron will be offering a variety of classes that she has been teaching in Los Angeles the past 18 years  She noticed a nitch in the local area when calling around to dance studios, none included musical theater and felt that her program would be wonderful for children that want to sing and dance at the same time.

Although her classes are in the musical theater arena, she explains that she takes a hip edge by staging numbers not just from musicals, but contemporary tunes with a Disney feel. Parents often compare her numbers to “American Idol,” with the exception that there are no losers and everyone gets a part. Her students range from shy children that need help coming out of their shell to children who actually own their own karaoke machine.

As a child Baltron took dance in Connecticut, but there were no classes available in her town for drama, singing, dancing and performing. This was frustrating for the self-proclaimed “drama queen.” So, Baltron decided to line up all the neighborhood kids on her porch and produce her own shows.

At 14 Baltron moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to attend a special performing arts high school and was finally in her element. She spent eight hours a day training in dance, musical theater and drama and felt she had “died and gone to heaven.”

After graduating she moved to New York City where she landed jobs in jazz reviews around the world and was the lead dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She then moved to L.A. where she pursued a career in acting. Baltron has appeared in guest starring roles in movies, television pilots and commercials. Some of her highlights include “NYPD Blue,” “The Norm MacDonald Show,” “General Hospital,” “Silk Stalkings” and a recurring role on the Fox sitcom "Down The Shore." She also stayed busy choreographing children's productions and numerous Barbie commercials for Mattel.

Baltron noticed the most rewarding aspect of her career was teaching classes to children that loved to sing, dance and act just like she did on her porch in Connecticut. She also feels her classes will benefit children with valuable life skills such as self esteem, public speaking and team building. Baltron is very community-oriented and has done several performances for local charities and notices how proud the children are to give back to their community. She plans to continue to teach the same life lessons in Fayette County.

To speak with Baltron for 30 minutes is quite an experience; she is filled with ideas for choreography, shows, community and so much more. Baltron is excited to be showcasing the talent of the local children and teaches all the classes herself. She offers a variety of classes for boys and girls, starting at 4-years-old and up through high school. She is thrilled to be a part of Peachtree City School of Dance where she feels at home.

Baltron can be reached at 770-629-1710 for infomation about her classes that are now forming.
