The economy may be down but not in the medical field. A rezoning and annexation request by Piedmont Fayette Hospital for three tracts totaling 17.85 acres along Sandy Creek Road will come before the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission Sept. 9. The request cites future uses that could include a daycare facility, parking spaces and stormwater infrastructure.

Two of the tracts totaling 17 acres are currently zoned OI (Office Institutional) while the .85-acre tract is zoned R-70 (Single-Family Residential). The acreage represents the hospital’s only remaining property situated outside the Fayetteville city limits.

It is anticipated that access to the property will be provided from both the main campus and also from Sandy Creek Road, city documents said. The property is located in the Fayette County water district and will be provided water by the county regardless of annexation. Sewer will be provided by the city.

City planning staff are recommending approval of the request.
