Shannon Michelle McKnight and Anthony DeMonti Jr. were married Saturday, May 10, 2008, at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, S.C. The Rev. John Wesley Hipp officiated. A reception followed at the Charleston Yacht Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Milton McKnight of Fayetteville and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross Hackney, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Loyd McKnight of Birmingham, Ala. A graduate of Woodward Academy in College Park, she attended the College of Charleston where she was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She is a graduate of Gordon College and Jacksonville State University with a B.S. degree in emergency management. She is employed by American Heritage LLC in the Charleston area.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Linda DeMonti of Charleston and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony DeMonti Sr. of Fredericksburg, Va. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ervin H. Taylor and Mrs. Natale G. DeMonti of Phillipsburg, N.J. and the late Mr. DeMonti. He is a graduate of Kalaheo High School in Kailua, Hawaii. He currently is pursuing a degree in occupational health and science with a major in fire science at Columbia Southern University. He is employed with the James Island Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT and with American Heritage, LLC as an EMT.

The bride wore a strapless gown of dupioni silk with pearl beading on the bodice. Her bouquet was affixed to a Bible carried by her maternal grandmother and her mother.

The maid of honor was Freya Mignon Cole of Peachtree City. The matron of honor was Julia McKnight Parra, of Tampa, Fla., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Angelique Butler of Charleston and Catherine Jane DeMonti, of Fredericksburg, Va., sister of the groom. Madison Nicole DeMonti, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.

The best man was Wesley Ward Scott of Mooresville, N.C. Ushers included Tobin Eugene Stewart, cousin of the groom of Charleston, Joseph Richard DeMonti, brother of the groom of Fredericksburg, and Dr. Andrew Lloyd McKnight, brother of the bride of Jackson. Nathan Thomas Karakorn, nephew of the bride was the ring bearer.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the couple will reside in the Charleston area.
