Fayette gains 14 National Board Certified Teachers

National Board Certification, the highest credential in the teaching profession, has been earned by 14 of Fayette’s finest educators bringing the system-wide total to 68.

The 2005 recipients represent a cross section of elementary, middle and high schools from throughout the county. They are Wendy Ashmore, Rising Starr Middle; Deborah Barrett, Rising Starr Middle; Dawn Burnette, McIntosh High; Sarah Carroll Lumpkin, Kedron Elementary; Sonya Farr, Peeples Elementary; Gail Godley, Fayette High; Janet Johnson, Kedron High; Sharon Lynch, Rising Starr Middle; Kelly McMahon, Fayette Middle; Salley Meyer, Peeples and Tyrone Elementary; Donna Owen, McIntosh High; Suzanne Quattlebaum, Rising Starr Middle; Millie Turek, Sandy Creek High; and Partricia Williams, Kedron Elementary.

National Board Certification is a voluntary process established by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Certification is achieved through a rigorous performance-based assessment that takes between one and three years to complete and measures what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
