After a small delay, the Fayette County Commission will consider replacing 19 vehicles in the county’s fleet Wednesday afternoon.

The issue was tabled from last Thursday’s meeting and concerns the recommendation of the Vehicle Replacement Committee.

On Aug. 7, the committee held its first quarterly meeting for the fiscal year. At that time, the committee considered replacement of one vehicle for Building and Grounds Maintenance, three for Emergency Management Services, one for Fire Services, three for the marshal’s office, four for Sheriff’s Field Operations, one for Sheriff’s Technical Services, one for the constable, two for the Road Department, and three for the Water System.

The county’s staff is recommending replacing the vehicles with funds from the vehicle replacement fund.

In other actions the County Commission will:

• Discuss approval of the revised Employee Performance Appraisal Document as presented by Scot Wrighton of the University of Georgia and the Human Resources Department.

• Discuss proposed amendments to the Fayette County Zoning Ordinance regarding the creation of a new zoning district that would permit a broad variety of uses or would augment the allowed uses within the M-1 zoning district, as requested by Richard Norman of Artisan Properties, Inc., who operates Storage Xxtra on Ga. Highway 85 North.

• Grant approval of the Finance Department’s recommendation that the County’s Vehicle Replacement Policy be amended to include an approved color scheme for various types of vehicles, heavy equipment and other assets.

• Consider Fire and Emergency Services’ recommendation that the proposed Comprehensive Water Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery Plan be adopted.

• Approve a Fire and Emergency Services’ request to apply for a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the amount of $30,000 for the purpose of updating the county’s Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan.

The meeting starts at 3:30 p.m. at the county complex on Stonewall Avenue.
