This year’s theme is “Tyrone, The South’s Rising Star.” That star will begin its ascent Thursday, Sept. 18 with a carnival at Handley Park from 5-10 p.m. Along with the rides, events will include a performance by Tyrone Elementary, and ice cream eating contest, a performance by Burch Elementary and a DJ spinning tunes. Armbands for carnival rides will be on sale at the gate for $20. Armbands can be pre-ordered for $15 prior to Sept. 10 by calling Tyrone Recreation at (770) 487-4694.

The carnival will be open again on Friday, Sept. 19 from 5-11 p.m., with additional activities including a Rock Star and Guitar Hero Contest and kid karaoke from 5-7:30 p.m., line dancing also at 7:30 p.m. and live music from 8-10 p.m.
