Fun and food highlight Kidz Fest ’08

With gas prices on the rise, many residents are staying local this holiday weekend. For those looking for some inexpensive fun this weekend, Peachtree City has just the thing: the 19th annual Kidz Fest and the first ever Pizza Fest. The event, which takes place Saturday, is perfect for all ages.

As in years past, Kidz Fest is free and open to the public. It will feature free rides such as the Giant Slide, Twist and Spin, Rock Wall, The Trackless Train, and the famous Money Machine with free prizes. Also available for a nominal fee will be pony rides.

New this year is the inaugural Pizza Fest. Sample pizza from all over Fayette County while checking out the sites.

This year awards will be given out in two categories: "PTC Pizza Fest Best Cheese Pizza" and "PTC Pizza Fest Best Specialty Pizza." Huge trophies will be given out to first place.

Attendees will be able to sample pizza for $1-2. This year’s entertainment includes juggler Ron Anglin, free full face painting by Mrs. Brenda, and Ronald McDonald will perform his side show.

Also Operation Lifesaver will bring their traveling safety show that promotes safety at railroad crossings. This year have a blast and save money at Kidz Fest/ Pizza Fest 2008.

Kidz Fest/ Pizza Fest will be held on Saturday, August 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shakerag Knoll Complex at 191 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. If you have any further questions contact Art Sivertsen with the Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department at 770-486-3936.
