The Fayetteville City Council Aug. 21 approved a new parade route that will give a boost to fund-raising efforts for Cleveland Elementary School’s Sept. 13 Curious Fun Run.

The route for the 5K event was not on the approved parade route list so it required approval by the council.

Cleveland physical education teacher and event organizer Sandra Lamb said the 5K run is expected to involve approximately 200 participants.

Police Chief Steve Heaton recommended approval of the event that will travel down Lester Road, on to Rock Hill Drive, back up Lester Road along the golf cart path, into Stonebriar Park, completing the course a short distance away at Cleveland Elementary.
