National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch from 4 p.m. Monday through Tuesday evening for a large portion of north and west central Georgia that includes Fayette and Coweta counties.

Incoming feeder bands from Tropical Depression Fay can be expected to dump up to five inches of rain across portions of north and west central Georgia by midday Tuesday with locally higher amounts possible, according the weather service.

Such rainfall can result in rapid rises of creeks and streams. Flash flooding will be possible in areas where thunderstorms occur, especially in steep terrain and urban areas.
