Lainie Gatch and Pete Powell were married July 26, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Augusta. Dr. C. Gregory DeLoach conducted the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Carolyn Grooms Gatch of Peachtree City and Edward Phillip Gatch of Ball Ground.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Richard Layton Powell and the late Richard Layton Powell of Augusta.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless Anne Barge gown which featured an Italian ivory silk bodice with a French lace skirt. To complement the gown, she wore a chapel length veil and carried a bouquet of white and cream roses with sweet pea.

Serving as the maid of honor was Cassie Blair Gatch of Villa Rica. Bridesmaids were Brooke Elyse Hembree of Pensacola, Fla., Kelly Elizabeth Hilands of Atlanta, Allison Rae Kessler of Atlanta, Megan Jankowski McMahon of Macon, Shannon Choate Walstad of Atlanta, Jennifer Lauren Ward of Boston, Mass., and Melissa Renee Whitmore of Atlanta.

The groom chose his brother, Richard Layton Powell Jr., as his best man. Groomsmen included Brian George Bacon of Acworth, Andrew Scott Higgins of Augusta, Kyle Brandon McMahon of Macon, Shawn Michael Merzlak of Evans, Tyler Lee O’Dell of Evans, Carlton Knox Walstad of Atlanta, and Dallas Walt Williams of Augusta.

Following a reception at the Augusta Country Club, the newlyweds spent a week in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and now reside in Birmingham, Ala.
