Tyrone police are still following up on leads stemming from the report of a Decatur woman last weekend that she had been abducted by two men in Decatur and driven to an isolated area in Tyrone where she was raped. The woman said she escaped and made her way to a nearby residence for help.

The Decatur resident in her early 30s told officers she had been abducted by two men at a Citgo station in Decatur in the early morning hours Aug. 2, said Tyrone Police spokesman Lt. Steve Lafferty. The woman told officers she had been approached by two black males in a PT Cruiser and told to get into the vehicle, said Lafferty. One of the men was thought to be in his 20s and the other in his 40s, Lafferty said.

She told officers she was driven to a secluded location on Trickum Creek Road in Tyrone where she was raped by both men and repeatedly told that she would be killed, Lafferty said. The woman later escaped and made her way to a residence in Southhampton subdivision off Ga. Highway 74 from which police were notified.

Tyrone police are following up on leads in the case and ask that anyone with information relating to this crime contact Tyrone Police at 770-487-4732.
