Rebecca Wayne has been named Newnan-Coweta Art Association’s Artist of the Month for August. Wayne, who has been a member of NCAA for three years, will have her work displayed at Newnan City Hall. Wayne works in various mediums; pencil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink. Most of her subject matter comes from what she sees around her, ans she says she enjoys trying new styles and materials. Wayne hails from Ohio. She has been drawing and painting since she was a child, and has taken a few adult continuing education classes in drawing, pottery, watercolor and computer graphics, but has mostly learned on her own through books and from trial and error. Since moving to Georgia her art has been displayed in the SCAVA 2007 juried art show, Espresso Lane in Newnan and Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone. Wayne currently works at Honey Baked Ham in Newnan. She has a B.S. in Earth science education from Miami University. She also has taken additional classes in civil engineering technology at Lakeland Community College, Ohio. Newnan Coweta Art Association meets the third Thursday of each month from September to May at the Harriet Alexander Art Center on Hospital Road at 7 p.m. Visitors and guests are welcome to join in the fun. An art demonstration is presented each month. login to post comments |
