Most Powerful Nation

I hear this said all of the time on TV and radio and in the newspapers--not so much in books and newspaper articles.
I suppose it means in terms of GNP and military might.
I hardly think it is thought of in any other fashion in China or Indonesia or India or Africa, and others, where 95% of the world's population reside.
If we could just remember such countries as were presided over by The Great Khans, Caesar, The Popes, The Persian Rulers, The Greek Rulers, The Egyptian Rulers, and Herr Hitler, we would understand that such things have always been temporary at some point of "progress."

We can not, and must not, think that we will forever be the most powerful nation on earth. It is highly unlikely, due to many weaknesses in the human factor; especially those who believe in such power being permanent.

I know many here now in the USA don't really care about such things changing in a hundred years, or even less. That would of course be the problem of the suckers here then.

No sacrifice large or small is worth doing now to secure such a position in the future, they think!

Until that attitude changes, we are next in line to be a has been.

It begins with war, forced labor of immigrants, too many ultra-wealthy, too many ultra-poor, too many ignorant, and taking advantage with such power.
It ends by rotting from within.
